For Internet Explorer:
go to tools on the menus and choose options or internet options
then choose the advanced tab
and scroll down and make sure that java has a checkmark beside it
For Netscape:
go to edit on the menus and choose preferences
choose advanced in the categories
and make sure that the checkmark is beside enable java
